Our services and the developments behind them are published as free software and often turn into useful tools for our clients and users. Here is a sample of the products that we have developed at Prompsit:
Prompsit machine translation interface
Works with the Apertium language pairs and can translate text, documents and web pages. The document types accepted are, among others, txt, rtf, html, odt, docx, pptx and xlsx. You can try it
here.
Translator from Spanish to Spanish Sign Language (LSE) and analyser for LSE
This prototype
translator translates from Spanish to Spanish Sign Language written in SEA (
Alphabetic Writing System for signed language, created by professor Ángel Herrero at the University of Alicante).
The
analyser analyses SEA and converts it to SiGML (
Signing Gesture Markup Language, an XML encoding of the annotation system
HamNoSys).
The system is designed so that the result can be (signed) by an avatar.
Machine translation module for Moodle
Developed to integrate Apertium machine translation into Moodle, a management system for Internet-based courses. It has been developed in collaboration with the Universitat Oberta de Catalunya. The program files can be downloaded from the project web page in Sourceforge:
http://sourceforge.net/projects/apertium-moodle.
Lemmatiser and morphological analyser
It delivers the lemma and the morphological analysis of any word, for all the languages included in Apertium.
Translation evaluator
Developed for the Universitat Oberta de Catalunya,it allows to evaluate raw machine translation output of a text compared to a post-edited version. Aside from giving WER (word error rate) value, it shows the types of errors (substitutions, insertions, deletions) and groups them by frequency. Test it at

Occitan — Catalan and Occitan — Spanish translators for the Government of Catalonia
Built in collaboration with Taller Digital de la Universidad de Alicante by commission of the Government of Catalonia, the translators analyse and generate two variants of Occitan: Aranese Occitan and a general variant based on Languedocian. It is available here:
http://traductor.gencat.net.
Improving language pairs in the Apertium platform
We have worked on improving, both linguistically and technically, different pairs of the Apertium platform. Some of these pairs are Spanish–Catalan, French–Spanish, Basque–Spanish, English–Catalan, Romanian–Spanish, Spanish–Portuguese and Breton–French. All them are available from both the
Prompsit translator or the
Apertium website.
